One Wednesday I had decided to spend time with Heelee for an
hour. We met at the Hecht House and I showed her the Sweet Shop, which is an
excellent place for coffee and studying, and visited Goldstein library.
Apparently Heelee’s daughter was at the time studying in Strozier library with
another student at FSU. I asked someone at the counter in Goldstein Library
whether it was ok to check out books for those who were not technically
attending FSU. The manager said for CIES students it is. I suggested this would
be a great way for her and her daughter to bond by reading stories out loud.
Heelee could practice her English and her daughter would improve her reading
skills. Once the hour was up we were going to part ways but then I suggested
she was more than welcome to join me, Obaid, and Ahmed to Yogurt Mountain.
Heelee was grateful and joined us. Obaid has not been having great experiences
with American food, but it seems that he enjoyed the frozen yogurt, especially when
it included m&ms.
