A few nights ago I met with another one of my conversation partners named Fahad. Fahad is from Kuwait and has been studying English for about eight years. Fahad is in Group 2 for most subjects. He is the most advanced of my conversation partners. He really wants to improve his speaking so we chatted about his favorite TV shows(lost, heroes) and favorite movies(transformers, James Bond).
I think Fahad has a really strong base due mostly to his extended exposure to English. I think he will improve quickly because he has strong intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. I suggested that he watch a few other movies in English(the Bourne movies, The Italian Job) and bring back a few questions about each movie he watches(the questions will be about a phrase or some vocab he doesn't understand). In the next session we will discuss these terms and hopefully I will be able to put them in context for him. My goal is for him to learn a maximum amount of vocab in an way that motivates him intrinsically.
