This
past Sunday I met with two of my conversation partners, Mohammad and Badah, so
that Badah could interview me for a presentation he had to conduct in class. He
wanted to know about my hobby, which is music, and ask me a few other
questions. I told him if he wanted to hear me play some guitar I could pick
them up and bring them to my apartment to show them a few licks. I was very
excited to have them over to my place. I believe what a person’s room looks
like says a lot about someone’s personality, so I eagerly took the opportunity
to show them a little more about myself and also what I like to do. I picked
them up from their apartment and took them to my apartment. Along the way we
chatted about how our Halloweens went. Mohammad dressed, very fittingly I might
add, as Harry Potter. Badah was some sort of ninja ghost. I couldn't really
tell from the pictures. When we arrived at my place I was surprised to learn
that they were both incredibly intimidated by my roommate’s small schnauzer. It
turns out Mohammad has an outright dog phobia and Badah wasn't much better. I defended them against the schnauzers curious advances and showed them to my
room. Once inside I played them a little song and messed around on the guitar
for a bit. Badah then began his interview, which consisted of a serious of
questions about my home town and the differences between there and Tallahassee.
After he was satisfied with my answers to his questions he recorded a video of
me jamming a little bit. I thought it was funny when he picked up my ukulele
and feigned playing along. After the interview we went outside to smoke a
cigarette and talk some more. On the way home I inquired about their fear of
dogs. It turns out that Kuwait has many wild, German shepherd sized dogs that
roam the desert and attack on sight. Mohammad was bit as a child and has never
recovered.
